 a geography where everything is devoured and 

in a century where progress' only fulcrum is technology,

what does one consume of oneself?


‘catatonic absorbtion of 21’st centuries fin de siècle’ defends the existence of the concept of the end of the 21st century based on a radical social speculation and has a structure that pushes people to push their own limits in this geography where everything is consumed, even consumption is consumed. It questions, investigates and confronts the depleted forms of life; it aims to produce a response to the discovered problematics with technology, which is the only hope of the progress of the 21st century. The process of ‘past-life-regression-therapy’ is followed with the concept spaces produced with spatial arrangements for the individual, and as William Gibson mentions in vis book Neuromancer, the proesthetics produced as a result of research is a form-of-self-realisation for a better self-being. Within the palace there are also lost souls who have lost themselves forever, who have devoted themselves to a criterion of development or to many different forms of consumption. In the representation of the project idea, Raimund Abraham's Unbuilt thought ‘The architect's vision of the possible should never completely replace the sense of reality.’, project establishes the narrative of the project with ghostly drawings and symbolic depictions of the architect's vision.

the project is located in sinkhole plateau in karapınar, konya.

a site facing years of unsustainable agricultural policies and groundwater usage, reflects characteristics of global ecological crises with geologic depressions.

locals: if the water runs out we'll draw deeper

the site, a scalelessness land where the temporality of anthropocene 
                               can not be perceived with human temporality

The continuous horizontal underground water flows create geological dissolutions with repetitive lines, the imperceptible temporality of the geological movements, which gives the person who walks in the geography and observes the sinkholes a feeling above a dead perception creating illusionary effects.

Unexpected ups and downs, even in a seemingly flat terrain, push the walker to move forward by observing the perception of the walker in an open way. tectonic games laughing at even basic motor reflexes

remains to question vertical patterns and elevations as an architectural decision in such a flat field, bring the consideration of geography being more prone to horizontal expansions and progressions

how'd enquired flow patterns work if they were positioned as a plan layout, as opposed to a vertical movement and facade games, towards the behaviour of groundwater flows in the geography.

Maybe the future is not coming with a radical social change, but with technology as the only basis for progress?
